Business Structure - PPC, daVinciConcept, Definite Industries
My current business structure relies on three business components which will be both private and publicly traded depending upon the business.
The first component and one of the collaboration projects that which we are working on now is a non-profit foundation that provides problem solutions and acts as a granting source for individuals developing ideas, businesses, and markets and market strategy, and provides the means to solutions. This foundation will be private and owned by myself and its members. This foundation will accept problems primarily from its own members. It will also work on solutions for specialized markets for the purpose of generalizing the solutions it creates for applications elsewhere. The foundation might also take on problems that are passed on from the publicly traded media corporation formed from Poetic Publishing.
The second structure, Poetic Publishing, is currently a means to publishing and is a provisioner of tools for online collaboration. These tools will be expanded to encompass the functionality necessary to allow private individuals to form free-form working groups (similar to what CQ stated in the last post), suggesting problems within their working groups, and using the tools provided by Poetic Publishing to organize resources, form teams, prioritize and direct effort, and collaborate to solve problems. It is my intent that the successful members of this publicly traded company own stock in its business structure. It is Poetic Publishing that will find new ideas and will find new members for the daVinci Concept Foundation. Poetic Publishing is very general and allows for collaboration on any type of work. It is a means to market (to publishers) for authors and a means to collaborate in small groups using a wide array of versatile open source software. Poetic Publishing is the first of the three that I have physically created and that now has tangible intellectual resources.
The third, Definite Industries is the means to market for solutions created through the means of daVinci Concept and Poetic Publishing. This will likely be the final component created. It already has a poster child in Poetic Publishing. Definite Industries will act as a consortium for the new industries and business ventures created out of daVinci Concept foundation. It will provide initial capital through venture capital fund sources, business loans, and act as a broker for existing supply, distribution, and manufacturing markets when new business are beginning. Definite Industries will also provide feedback to the problem solvers, both to the private group and the public groups. In this way, problems in the means to market structures and solutions created by daVinci Concept can be assessed and new and better solutions created.
In common parlance, this feedback from Definite Industries to daVinci Concept is known as a cyclic design process. We will be designing solutions of a much broader scope than many specialized industries, but the best practice methods used by the technology industries still apply. This is an example of the concept: the solution as a template.

I'm a little unclear about the division between daVinci Concept and Definite Industries. So daVinci develops the ideas and has the money, and Definite Industries is the marketing and managing arm?

It is not a conventional split between business components, not necessarily separating marketing and management from idea development. It is more of the creation of a type of business cycle, where the solutions created by the foundation are tried and tested by the business development.
Think of it this way: Definite Industries is a solution created by daVinci Concept. This solution is meant to provide several key services for new and emerging businesses; distribution resources, infrastructure components, management services, venture capital networks, business to business solutions, marketing savvy, etc...
It is meant to be the means to market for the solutions created by the daVinci Concept Foundation. Not just management. Everything. A holistic means to business solution. Now, I realize that this type of system has been created for specific industries and there are many companies that are in the business of creating business, primarily VC firms. The structure that I intend to create is fundamentally different in several aspects. Definite Industries does not ignore the context of human knowledge in which it portends to hold value. Instead of just creating instances of successful business development, or abstracting general business construction method within the limited context of the company, or basing business practice upon the least common denominator, or using statistical methods to determine market, Definite Industries is in the business of discovering process, method, and practice, in context. It is an end in itself by producing new businesses. It is salable as a means by acting as a testing ground for the ideas produced by daVinci Concept.
Definite Industries knows that a market cannot exist prior to its creation by individuals. Firstly, an entrepreneur must have the vision to know what, objectively, is a market that is needed. Secondly, once the components of a new market are in place, the consumer must be provided with information and access. It is common for economists to state that a business can only be created if market already exists prior. This is self-contradictory. Markets are created by the ingenuitive. Definite Industries intends to conduct that ingenuity.
It is also the case that the business development strategies and method employed is assessed with the same critical and objective eye that Poetic Publishing intends to employ. This means that its business ventures will be structured with respect to a rational philosophy. This enables both father seeing ventures and morally coherent ventures. It should be the case that at the very least, Definite Industries is an exemplar and fosterer of rational human values.
So, in short, Definite Industries creates objectively valuable and virtuous markets from the well of ingenuity provided by the daVinci Concept. It creates markets. It improves business development. It improves business structure and purpose. What Poetic Publishing intends to do for communication medium, Definite Industries intends for economic medium.
