Keeping Your Writing Data Safe from the Public
Delete temporary files from public computers
When you are finished composing and have successfully submitted your work it is a good idea to clean up after yourself. This is particularly important when using a public computer. In a Windows environment, permanently delete your temporary files by keying 'shift-delete'. This will destroy the file without sending it to the recycle bin. (Be careful with this feature!)
Remove software cache information
When using a public computer it is also a very good idea to clean out the web-browser's temporary cache. This is where it stores image, webpage data, and even passwords. Some web-browser software also caches the data inside text fields on the website allowing you to retrieve information lost because of a faulty connection to the website or session timeout. Unfortunately, the most common web-browsers do not support this feature.
You can clean the browser cache by finding the 'preference' or 'options' dialogs for the web-browser and emptying its contents. You should also consider clearing out the browser history and cookie data. These settings can be found in Opera: File->Preferences->Cache and History; in Internet Explorer: Edit->Options->somewhwere
