Colonizing Mars

The questions I would ask, indeed, have to do with the colonization of Mars. Then perhaps, we can develope the idea of how we might accomplish such a task.
Should we colonize Mars?

Why would we wish to colonize Mars?

What does the colonization of Mars have to do with us?

I have been studying this idea for a the past few months, and have come to an understanding of its significance. I will continue from my studies the formation of this concept slowly, as the knowledge of this odyssey shapes itself into the idea, of a truthful principle of human development.

Any and all input upon the subject at hand, are very much urged. Feel free to disclose whatever thoughts you might have.

Should we colonize Mars?
Absolutely, immediately.

Why would we wish to colonize Mars?
(1) Mars has less of a gravity well than earth. Once manufacturing facilities are established further exploration of the solar system become orders of maginitude easier.
(2) The intensive study of Mars would priceless to a myriad of sciences. This shouldn't need further explanation.
(3) The existance of a 'frontier' seems to be a key component of a healthy society. Has humans we have an intrinsic desire to explore new environments and adapt to them.

Evidence has been found of Neanderthal settlements along southern Spain. Africa was close enough to see, as strong swimmer could have crossed, but there is no evidence that any attempt at settlement was made. They died off, Homo sapiens thrived. There's a lesson there somewhere.

Anyone interested in the subject of the colonization of Mars, should read the Robert Zubrin books, The Case for Mars ISBN 0684835509 and Entering Space ISBN 1585420360

Note: the same arguments could been made in favor of colonizing the asteroids and there are advantages and disadvantages to that plan. I am in favor of both.
